Chitrakoot, also referred to as Chitrakootdham, is a town and a nagar panchayat in the Satna district in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is a religious place with historical significance located in the Baghelkhand region.
According to Hindu mythology, Chitrakoot is the place where Lord Ram, Goddess Sita and Lakshmana spent their 11 years and 6 months of exile out of their 14 years of exile period. This place is referred to in various Hindu scriptures such as the Ramayana, and it holds immense religious and cultural significance.
